7 Predictions for The February 2022 Nintendo Direct
Right on cue, Nintendo has announced a February Nintendo Direct in 2022, and we’re going to make predictions.
Back in September, we did the same and you can check out how we did below, but for now, here is what we HOPE you can expect tonight.
- HOW’D WE DO? – 7 Predictions for The September 2021 Nintendo Direct
1. Splatoon 3 Gets a June Release Date
Splatoon has always been a summer game for Nintendo. The first game had a May release and the second was released in July.
The third game in the series is definitely set to be one of Nintendo’s biggest titles this year and a summer release seems inevitable, with this Direct presenting the best opportunity to announce it.
2. Wind Waker HD is Finally Announced
We’re still JUST within the year of The Legend of Zelda’s 35th anniversary, and while there have been one or two decent releases, including Skyward Sword HD.
However, while there has been some good stuff, there are still some huge gaps, including the rumoured Wind Waker HD. Tonight’s Direct presents the last opportunity for Nintendo to reveal it during the anniversary year and I very much hope it happens.
3. Metroid Prime HD Finally Announced
Okay, I’m hedging my bets a little here as I think only one of either Wind Waker or Metroid Prime HD will actually be announced.
Both have been heavily rumoured for quite some time, with the latest Metroid rumour suggesting it’s not the whole Prime Trilogy getting a remaster, but just the original game.
I’m more inclined to think this will happen over Zelda.
4. Mario Party Superstars DLC Revealed
Mario Party Superstars, for my money, is the best Mario Party game we’ve had in a very, very long time.
The nostalgia factor helps, but the whole game felt like a celebration of the series’ history. The fact that it solely pulls boards and minigames from Mario Party past, Nintendo has a bunch of extra content they can dig into with relative ease. Coupled with the fact that Super Mario Party received an update after release, this seems like a no-brainer.
5. Hollow Knight Silksong Dropping in April
Every time I do prediction for Nintendo Directs, Hollow Knight: Silksong crops up.
It’s now been almost three years since the follow up to Hollow Knight was announced and it’s about time that it resurfaces!
6. Kirby, Advance Wars and Triangle Stategy Get The Spotlight
A bit of a vanilla prediction, but the above three are games that we know are coming out in the first half of 2022.
It makes sense for Nintendo to show off these titles to build up some hype. And they almost certainly will.
7. Zelda: Breath of the Wild Gets its Official Title and November Releae Date
In Nintendo’s Direct announcement, it states that the presentation will be “mainly focused on Nintendo Switch titles launching in the first half of 2022”. “Mainly” being the key word in this situation.
While it’s highly unlikely that the Breath of the Wild sequel is dropping in H1, 2022, Nintendo knows fans are thirsty for new information about the follow-up and teasing this at the end of the presentation will, without doubt, generate a lot of hype.
