In a recent attempt to balance interceptions in FIFA 22, the EA Sports team has changed the outcome of interceptions a little bit. After this new update, the chance of retaining the ball after intercepting or blocking a Ground Pass will be increased.
This simply means when your opponent’s players send a Ground Pass to each other, and you intercept it, your chance to gain control of the ball, rather than deflecting to another direction will be increased.
FIFA 22 Title Update 5 Patch Notes
- Increased the likelihood of a player retaining the ball after intercepting or blocking a Ground Pass.
- This change has no effect on how often Ground Passes are intercepted and blocked, it only impacts the outcome of interceptions and blocks.
As you can see, later in the patch notes the team has made it clear that the change doesn’t modify the overall chance of intercepting Ground Passes.
So, with this change, you will probably have more chance for counter-attacking as you will have more chance to retain the control of the ball from the opponent and change the flow of the game.
Title Update 5 is only available for PC and Stadia players at the moment. It will be released for the console players at a later date.
FIFA 22 is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, Stadia, and PC.
