In a detailed post, they list down the upcoming features coming to Battlefield 2042:
-
SCOREBOARD – In our next update, we’ll be adding a refreshed in-round Scoreboard alongside further changes we’ve worked on since the holidays. This will be an ongoing evolution from what was shown in the work in progress we shared recently. We have heard your feedback around including two tables and separating your own team versus the enemy, and are working on incorporating that for the release. K/D scoring and End of Round reporting will also be coming in a future update.
-
ALL PLATFORM VOICE COMMUNICATION – The arrival of voice communication (VOIP) is just the start of the improvements we’re bringing to enhance team play and communications.
-
PLAYER PROFILE – Giving you a better overview of your career on the battlefield and how far you have to go for your next unlock.
DICE also plans to improve team play with a refined ping system and improving the game’s reward loop for players within a squad playing the objective. The developers also mentioned improving but they didn’t go into detail.
Portal was briefly mentioned as well saying they will “continue to expand its tools, modes, and tweak player experience gains”. They also mentioned that they have a team analyzing Specialists in the game but that’s about it.
There’s no mention of Hazard Zone in the update, the third main game mode of Battlefield 2042.
Battlefield 2042 season one delayed
Lastly, they gave us an update on the game’s season one, which ideally would launch weeks after launch but is not pushed back to Summer of this year.
They didn’t go into details why season one will be available months from now but it’s safe to say the poor reception and complaints resulted in the team to focus on core gameplay and mechanics. The developers did mention that they will still “deliver four Seasons, four new Specialists, and new locations along with more completely new content.” in 2022.
For those who picked up the Gold and Ultimate Editions of Battlefield 2042, DICE is giving an exclusive bundle that contains a Specialist skin, weapon, vehicle skins, a melee weapon and a Player Card. Expect this bundle to be available on the game’s next update.
