new call of duty game

For the past few months, fans and industry insiders alike have speculated that the rumored 2022 Call of Duty title would be the sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare. While a plethora of details have leaked ranging from new game modes to character appearances, the studio has yet to officially confirm what the unannounced game actually is.

A new generation of Call of Duty is coming soon.

For those unaware, the term “Stay frosty” is a term used in the military that means to “stay alert.” More importantly, it’s also one of the most popular phrases attributed to the Modern Warfare franchise (there’s even an achievement in Modern Warfare 3 named after it). Coupled with the fact that Infinity Ward is teasing the “next generation” of Call of Duty, we can assume that Modern Warfare 2 will likely release sometime this year.

Opinion: Modern Warfare 2 won’t be a next-gen exclusive

Andrew writes… Some are speculating that the “new generation” portion of the tweet indicates it won’t release for past-gen consoles. Considering the ongoing shortage of next-gen consoles, however, I find it highly unlikely that Activision Blizzard would decide to limit the playerbase of its largest first-person shooter to next-gen. If anything, the phrase simply means that the title will release on next-gen consoles just like last year’s Call of Duty: Vanguard.

In other news, Activision has revealed that active players for both Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Pacific have declined since launch. Sony also detailed Gran Turismo 7 features and the order in which they unlock.
