Lost Ark character creation limits

Developers Smilegate has confirmed that they have placed Lost Ark character creation limits for certain servers in North America and EU the day before the game’s free-to-play launch.

New character creation limits are now live on specific servers as the Lost Ark development team prepare for the game’s final release.

As confirmed earlier this year, the free-to-play version is scheduled for February 11, with server queues expected across the game.

And having built such a large fanbase even before the F2P release, the Lost Ark team are prepping in other ways.

This includes putting Lost Ark character creation limits in place today, affecting those who paid for early access.

Lost Ark Character Creation Limits

The good news is that this change is only affecting the busiest servers, meaning there will still be plenty of room for everyone to create their characters.

The tweak went live today, with the Smilegate team explaining on Twitter: “We will be limiting the creation of characters by new players on servers that have extensive queue times.

“If you already have a character on one of these servers, you will still be able to create additional characters for your Roster, but new players will not be able to join or create characters.”

The servers that have been affected by today’s update includes the following:

NA East

  • Mari
  • Valtan

NA West

  • Azena
  • Una
  • Regulus
  • Avesta

EU Central

  • Kadan
  • Trixion
  • Thirain
  • Zinnervale
  • Asta

This character creation limit will remain in place for the foreseeable future, with an update expected in the future when it is eventually removed.

Smilegate has also confirmed that while they are closing down some character creation options, they are also opening up new servers.

This will include a growing list of servers, starting with the following:

EU Central

  • Beatrice

NA East

  • Elzowin

Though these servers are opening now, additional servers will also be rolling out ahead of the free-to-play launch.

These changes are being conducted to try and alleviate any current server queue issues and future ones that are expected when the game’s full launch goes live on Friday.

More information regarding the steps being taken will be shared during the rest of the week, with Lost Ark’s Steam player count expected to balloon over the weekend.
