Warzone 2

WARZONE 2 is confirmed as coming out later in 2022 with a new Call of Duty Sandbox mode, and a recent leak appears to have confirmed what that will contain.

Even though it was leaked early, the news that Call of Duty Warzone 2 is on the way and is set to be partnered with the next mainline COD game still surprised many.

The big news is that another free Battle Royale experience focused around the Call of Duty universe is in development and set to arrive sometime over the coming month.

Activision didn’t go as far as to confirm when that will be happening but there’s a good chance we will learn more before Autumn 2022.

Warzone Expands in 2022

The other big update shared by the COD team is that a new Warzone Sandbox Mode is on the way and is set to play a big role in the sequel’s setup. A new Warzone Sandbox Mode has been announced that will be available alongside the normal Battle Royale experience.

This Sandbox Mode will be available in Warzone 2 and will be running on a new engine that will also be used in Modern Warfare 2022. The key details shared by Activision today includes the following points: This year’s Call of Duty is a sequel to Modern Warfare 2019. The new game and a new Warzone experience are designed together from the ground-up.

Expect a massive evolution of Battle Royale with all-new playspace and a new sandbox mode. A new engine powers both the new Call of Duty game release and Warzone. Development on both the new Call of Duty and the Warzone experience is being led by Infinity Ward.

What Is Warzone Sandbox Mode?

Activision did not confirm what Warzone Sandbox Mode would contain but the name suggests a more casual experience with multiple activities attached. Instead of the normal quick-fire matches currently found in Caldera, there is a good chance that COD fans will be able to explore a new area without worrying about lives.

An earlier leak also confirmed the existence of a Sandbox Mode, and as this has now been proven true, some of those details can be taken more seriously. The original leak found on PCGamers included details regarding Safe Zones that were weapons-free and other activities not based on firefights.

Vehicle races, time trials and Obstacle courses were just a number found as part of the leak earlier in 2021. Sky-diving and Parkour were also referenced, suggesting that Warzone 2 is looking to take on games like Fortnite and Roblox.
