Ok, so the Resident Evil 4 Remake hasn’t exactly been confirmed, but there are a lot of signs pointing to it. With the Nvidia GeForce Leak, concept art posted by a voice actor, and the original director’s thoughts on improving the game, it seems like a remake is in the cards. Once again, we’re gotten even more hints that one could be coming.

The Resident Evil 4 Remake: is it true?

Supposedly, Capcom started working on a Resident Evil 4 Remake years ago. The Resident Evil 2 Remake went over very well, and sources suggest they started working on the RE4 Remake around the same time. Accordingly, Capcom set the game to be revealed this year—or so the sources suggest.

Those developing the remake were referred to as “M-Two”. M-Two suggests the original director, Shinji Mikami, was working with old friend Tatsuya Minami on the remake, thus the name. Though Mikami wanted to work on the remake, he now works at Tango Gameworks because he felt it would fall apart without him. M-Two then shifted to the Resident Evil 2 Remake project leads.

Now that things have changed, it sounds like Capcom doesn’t want to follow the remake strictly as the original was. Much like the Final Fantasy VII Remake, it seems Capcom plans to switch things up. In the original, protagonist Leon S. Kennedy arrived during the daytime, but now it’s been swapped to a nighttime arrival. This was to address the tone of the game and make it more “spooky” from the start.

Additionally, Capcom plans to give more screen time to characters on the side and develop them more. They also plan to tie in Assignment: Ada and Separate Ways, campaigns focusing on spy Ada Wong. Whether these more fleshed-out campaigns will be in the main game or added as a DLC, it seems unclear.

It could happen, but we’re still not sure

But of course, this is all just speculation, so take everything with a grain of salt. As cool as a Resident Evil 4 Remake could be, we still have to keep our fingers crossed it’s even true. Things like the pandemic could also affect when Capcom plans to announce it, if at all. For now, all we can rely on are the hundred hints seemingly being dropped in our path and hope that they’re true.
