Nakime In Demon Slayer: Character Explained

Nakime appears in the episode when Akaza arrives at the Infinity Castle. If you remember, a person is shown at the end, playing an instrument called Biwa with purple-colored nails. Her appearance in the show was just for a split second, and neither her face was revealed, but she will play an important role in the series later.

Nakime is a demon who moves to the upper-rank four after the death of Hantengu. She lives in the Infinity Castle, and her primary job is to summon the demons to the castle under Muzan Kibutsuji’s command. Nakime is an introvert and only speaks when necessary. Her responses are direct, and she likes to keep the conversation short.

As a human, Nakime was a musician who played Biwa. She married a man who was addicted to gambling. Once, she had to perform on stage, but she discovered that her husband gambled away her dress before the show started. Nakime killed her husband out of rage with a hammer. While performing on the stage, she was trembled by what she had done, and her hands started shivering.

But unexpectedly, the Biwa sounded so melodious while she played in stress that the audience loved it, and her owner was impressed by her. After this incident, whenever she had to play for a bigger audience, Nakime started killing people before her show.

One night, before her performance, she was looking for her prey, and Nakime decided to kill Muzan Kibutsuji. Muzan was impressed by her searching skills, and he offered her to become a demon instead of killing her.
