Go Retro with the Launch Trailer for River City Girls Zero
River City Girls fans are waiting for the release of the sequel this summer, but Nintendo has a throwback to the ‘90s era of Kunio-kun games.
Check out the launch trailer for River City Girls Zero:
It’s time to brawl like it’s 1994! River City Girls Zero, the 16-bit beat-’em-up, is now available on Nintendo Switch!
Team up with Kunio, Riki, Misako, and Kyoko for retro co-op action, updated with motion-comic cutscenes, a new animated intro, and new music by RCG1 composer Megan McDuffee and DEMONDICE!
With the first River City Girls being an ode to the Kunio-kun franchise, Zero actually brings the game back to its aesthetic roots, complete with ‘90s era animation. You even get to go around controlling Kunio and his friend Riki; with some added motorcycle levels as well!
You also have to love that smooth animation that just adds another level of ‘90s nostalgia with the character redesigns.
Though this isn’t the River City game that some fans are hoping for, it should keep them satisfied until the summer release of the actual River City Girls sequel. If anything, the animated scenes look fantastic, and it should also be a great jumping point to get into the original Kunio-kun games. I haven’t even mentioned the soundtrack which is so literal it’s hilarious.
River City Girls Zero is now available for the Nintendo Switch. River City Girls 2 is set to come to the Switch this summer.
