Pokemon GO is getting ready to host its GO Tour Johto event next weekend and Niantic is helping people get ready for lots of catching with the new GO Tour Poke Ball Prep Rally Timed Research.

GO Tour Kanto was held in February 2021 and offered players a lot of great chances to catch shinies and other Pokemon, which is being followed up this year with GO Tour Johto.

When Is The GO Tour Prep Rally Event?

The Pokemon GO Tour Prep Rally event kicks off on Friday, February 18 at 10:00 am local time and will run through Friday, February 22 at 8:00 pm local time.

During this time, the Timed Research will be available in addition to the addition of Hisuian Electrode to the game and other specialized increased spawns.

As far as Pokemon GO Tour Johto, it will take place on Saturday, February 26 from 9 am to 9 pm local time.

Poke Ball Prep Rally Event Timed Research Tasks and Rewards

The goal of the Poke Ball Prep Rally Timed Research is to help prepare you for the GO Tour Johto event by giving you some additional Poke Balls to use.

• Spin a PokeStop or Gym – 3x Poke Balls
• Complete a Field Research task – 2x Great Balls
• Send a Gift to a friend – 1x Ultra Ball
• Rewards – 100 Stardust, 100 XP

Step 2

• Spin 3 PokeStops or Gyms – 6x Poke Balls
• Complete 3 Field Research Tasks – 4x Great Balls
• Send 3 Gifts to friends – 2x Ultra Balls
• Rewards – 200 Stardust, 200 XP

Step 3

• Spin 5 PokeStops or Gyms – 9x Poke Balls
• Complete 5 Field Research tasks – 6x Great Balls
• Send 5 Gifts to friends – 3x Ultra Balls
• Rewards – 300 Stardust, 300 XP

Step 4

• Spin 10 PokeStops or Gyms – 20x Poke Balls
• Complete 10 Field Research tasks – 15x Great Balls
• Send 10 Gifts to friends – 5x Ultra Balls
• Rewards – 500 Stardust, 500 XP

As you can see, the GO Tour Poke Ball Prep Rally Timed Research is quite basic by rewarding you with nothing but varying type of Poke Balls, as well as some Stardust and XP.

However, the amount given here is rather disappointing overall. It will be a help since you will be able to use them, but there have been other events that rewards many more Poke Balls than this. Considering the upcoming GO Tour Johto is a paid event, you’d think they would have helped players get more Poke Balls at a quicker pace.
