Sony have dropped a new trailer for the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection which launches on PlayStation 5 this Friday, 28th January, with a PC version following later in 2022. The trailer mixes footage from both Uncharted 4 and the Lost Legacy and as you might expect, looks rather lovely running on PlayStation 5.

These game already look stunning on Sony’s previous hardware, however players can flip between three modes depending on their preferences. These include:

  • Fidelity Mode – For those of you who have a 4K display and want super sharp resolution above all else to enjoy the stunning environments and details the Uncharted series is known for, select Fidelity Mode and play in native 4K resolution with a 30fps target framerate.
  • Performance Mode – We carried over the high framerate PS4 patch with Performance Mode, which targets a 60fps frame rate.
  • Performance+ Mode – If you’re all about the smoothest gameplay possible and don’t mind a resolution drop, try out our first ever Performance+ Mode which targets 120fps at a 1080p resolution.

This wouldn’t be a PS5 re-release with making use of unique system features such as immersive haptic feedback via the DualSense controller and spatial 3D audio. For those who already own Uncharted 4 and/or The Lost Legacy on PS4, there’s a $10/€10 upgrade that will unlock their respective PS5 versions, ready to download on release date.

Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy were both in the PlayStation Hits range of budget legacy titles on the PlayStation 4, priced individually at £15.99 on the PlayStation Store and regularly included in discounts during sales. Both have now been delisted from individual sale, but are available in the ‘UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End & UNCHARTED: The Lost Legacy Digital Bundle’, which is listed for £34.99 – a price increase of £3.01.

A bit cheeky at the best of times, the reason for this is clear, and that’s the upgrade path that Sony are offering to owners of the games on PS4. If you own a copy of Uncharted 4, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy or this new bundle, you will be able to upgrade to Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves for £10 when it is released in January 2022, even if you only own one of the two games. Since Legacy of Thieves is priced at £44.99, keeping the games on sale individually would hugely undercut the new retail price that Sony want to set. That’s also why they’re blocking copies of Uncharted 4 acquired through PlayStation Plus from the upgrades.
