Apex Legends is Adding a Team Based ‘Control’ Mode
Apex Legends is getting a new limited-time mode ‘Control,’ which pits two teams of players in an infinite-respawn, domination-style match. Each team consists of 9 players each, with each player picking from a standardized loadout. The game mode will be available for the first three weeks of Season 12 which will likely release on February 8, 2022. The upcoming season will also come with a new legend: Mad Maggy, the announcer from Season 8.
What will Apex Legends’ Control game mode look like?
As with most team-based modes in the first-person-shooter genre, the Control game mode will have two teams of 9 players compete to capture control points to win. Like the Domination game mode in Call of Duty, there will likely be several points to capture. Unlike the usual Apex Legends, players will also get to respawn as many times as they wish. It’s unconfirmed whether players will get to use the same character when they’re on the same team — though it’s possible, given the game’s increasing roster size.
In addition to the return of the Olympus map, Apex Legends is also getting a new Legend named Mad Maggy. The character previously appeared back in Season 8 as the childhood friend-turned-nemesis of the legend Fuse. Initially thought to be dead, Maggy is now back and will be forced to compete in the Apex games as a form of punishment. Respawn Entertainment will likely unveil further details about the character’s kit and abilities on January 27, 2022.
