Little Orpheus comes to PC and consoles in March, from the makers of Dear Esther

The Chinese Room’s platforming adventure Little Orpheus is coming to PC and consoles in March, broadening its horizons from its original release exclusively on Apple Arcade.

Best known for Dear Esther and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, Little Orpheus is quite a change of pace for The Chinese Room. This isn’t a slow and steady “walking simulator”, but a side-scrolling adventure and one that’s far more sensational. Set in 1962, it follows a Societ mission into the centre of the Earth, exploring lost civilizations, undersea kingdoms and more.

The game won awards with its original Apple Arcade release, but is being enhanced and expanded for PC and console. There’s new hi-res textures, new animations and enhanced effects work. There’s also a bonus ninth episode – A Rush of Onion to the Head – and a Lost Recordings Mode which was added to the game after release.

We were fans of the game with its mobile debut. In our Little Orpheus review, Tom said:

“Little Orpheus sets a new bar in mobile gaming experiences. Its rich, lush world is only surpassed by the fantastic narrative and voice acting and the stellar soundtrack composed by Jessica Curry and Jim Fowler. It does become a little repetitive by the end, but chances are you will already be gripped and engaged with the story, wanting to see how Ivanovich survives the fantastical dangers of this subterranean world.”
