Sea of Thieves Servers Down Today (January 30)

According to the official Sea of Thieves Info and Support Twitter account, the game’s official servers are experiencing some matchmaking issues which means the game is down for many.

Don’t worry though, as the team are currently investigating the issue. A statement was released shortly before 7AM PT / 3PM GMT stating that:

“The team are aware of a current issue with matchmaking. We are investigating and will update once it is resolved. Until then, please be aware that you could experience a delay accessing the game, and some players may be unable to get in. Thank you for your patience”.

It looks like some players may still be able to log into Sea of Thieves, but many may experiencing connection issues or the dreaded ‘Strawberrybeard’ error message.

Unfortunately, there’s no official fix for the error message, but some users on Reddit have reported that restarting your console could help the issue. However, as the issue is widespread, we’d recommend waiting for the developers to solve the issues on their end.

To stay up to date with the outage, check out the official support page for Sea of Thieves.
