Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 20 Explained

In the episode, we see Zeke and Eren spending years exploring Grisha’s memory. Zeke realizes that Grisha loved his second son and he even delayed his Restorationist mission. Apparently, Grisha discovered King of the Wall’s hideout years before the walls fell. However, he decided not to go ahead with his plan of eating the Founding Titan out of his love for his family.

However, the day when walls fell, Grisha confronts the King and his family and asks them to save the people inside the walls. Grisha begs them to kill the Titans outside the walls, but Frieda asks Grisha to accept his fate. Frieda says that Eldians must atone for their sins and accept their fate, even through they don’t remember what they’ve done in the past.

At this point, Grisha explains that he inherit the Attack Titan, and that people who inherited Attack Titan never bowed down to the King or to anyone. Grisha also explains that each one of the nine Titans have a unique ability. And interestingly, Attack Titan has the ability to see the future, which is something that nobody knew.

Now, Grisha decides to eat the Founding Titan, but he falls on his knees, accepting the fact that he can’t kill children. However, at this point, Eren talks to Grisha and manipulates him to go ahead with his vengeance and eat everyone except the King. So, basically, if Eren didn’t talk to Grisha in his memories, Grisha might not have eaten the Founding Titan.

Eren Saw the Future When He Touched Historia’s Hand

Now, it’s clear that Eren saw the future when he kissed Historia’s hand all those years back. In the latest episode, Grisha states to Zeke that he saw Eren’s future when he touched him. So, Grisha already knew everything that’s going to happen to Eren, and that’s why he does what Eren asks.

Now, what exactly did Eren saw when he touched Historia? Well, interestingly, when Eren held Historia’s hand, he saw his own future by getting a glimpse of what his father saw while fighting Frieda. So, it explains why he wasn’t shocked when Sasha died, because he already knew that’s going to happen. On top of that, there’s a chance that Eren also sees his future self when he saw a glimpse of his father’s memories.
