I’m back with a new interview! These seem to be popular and I’ve had a lot of interest in doing them, so let’s keep showing off the indie author scene to you all. Today I bring you an interview with a good friend of mine LiAnne Kay, who recently released her fantasy romance novel Tattered last summer and is working on a sequel!

First of all, tell me about yourself! What do you write?

I’m LiAnne, and I write Fantasy/ Romances.

How do you develop your plots and characters?

I learn about them the more I write them. I also create detailed character sheets for each one.

Tell the world about your current project!

My current project is book 2. Awakened. It’s the 2nd book in my The Bond Between Us series.

Who would you say is the main character of your latest novel? And tell me a little bit about them!

Alba. She’s a fierce princess who doesn’t allow anything to stop her from protecting her four younger sisters.

Have you been to any conventions? If so, tell me a little about them! I

haven’t.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

As a child. Pride & Prejudice was my first inspiration.

If you had the opportunity to live anywhere in the world for a year while writing a book that took place in that same setting, where would you choose?

Italy! Most definitely Italy!!

What advice would you give new writers?

Never ever stop listening to advice. And never ever stop writing.

What inspires you to write?

Everything. Nature. Music. Smells. People.

What is the hardest part of writing for you?

Being disciplined.

What is your routine when writing, if any? If you don’t follow a routine, why not?

I don’t really have one.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write in any of your books, and why?

The first meeting between my couples. It just gets me!

Did you learn anything from writing your latest book? If so, what was it?

Be tenacious. Never stop. Never give up.

Are you a plotter or a pantser? A gardener or an architect? Pantser.

If you had to give up either snacks and drinks during writing sessions, or music, which would you find more difficult to say goodbye to?

Music!

Which is your favourite season to write in, and why?

Winter. There’s something calming about watching the snow fall.

It’s sometimes difficult to get into understanding the characters we write. How do you go about it?

Just keep writing them. Honestly, the more you write them, the more you get them. Write backstory too, words you never plan to share with the world. They’re for you!

What are your future project(s)?

2 novellas that will be part of the main series and a companion novel.

What is your favorite book ever written?

PRIDE & PREJUDICE!!!!

Who are your favorite authors?

Jane Austen!

What makes a good villain? What makes a good hero?

A good villain is someone you can understand at times and root for. Someone complex and a little gray!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Landscape! Photography! Read! Crochet!

If you couldn’t be an author, what ideal job would you like to do?

I’d be a forensic scientist or an Egyptologist.

Coffee or Tea? Or (exult deep breath) what other drink do you prefer, if you like neither?

COFFEE!!!

You can travel to anywhere in the universe. Where would you go, and why?

Italy. I want to visit all that ancient History and glean inspiration from it.

Do you have any writing blogs you recommend?

Not right now.

Pick any three fiction characters. These are now your roadtrip crew. Where do you go and what do you do?

Darcy. Elizabeth. Mr. Bingley. We go back to the night of the first dance and Darcy doesn’t blunder things so poorly. LOL

What superpower would you most like?

The ability to bend time. Is that a thing? I’d love to see my brother again.

What are two of your favorite covers of all time? (Not your own.)

Oh, um… some of the bookish box set ones are amazing.

It’s a very difficult time right now for the world. When quarantine and the pandemic eventually comes to an end, what is the first thing you would like to do?

Travel more.

Finally, what is your preferred method to have readers get in touch with or follow you (i.e., website, personal blog, Facebook page, here on Goodreads, etc.) and link(s)?

Facebook or Instagram.
