It was a spectacular series of performances by Gaimin Gladiators that allowed it to defeat Team Liquid 3-1 and secure the title of Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Western Europe (WEU) 2021-22 Regional Finals Champions. During the post-match winner’s interview, midlaner Miroslav “BOOM” Bičan and safelaner Anton “dyrachyo” Shkredov expressed their feelings about becoming the best team in a highly competitive WEU region currently. Dyrachyo expressed his happiness with the win, but BOOM noted that it did not mean much since they were yet to play and prove themselves against teams from other regions.

BOOM talks about Gladiators’ WEU Regional Finals win over Team Liquid

It will be fair to say that Gladiators played its best Dota 2 yet in the grand final of the Regional Finals as it completely outplayed Team Liquid, which had been cruising past teams in the region and was the favorite to win the event.

Taking down household teams like Tundra Esports, Team Liquid and more in the WEU region must feel very satisfying, but for BOOM, as he explained in the post-match winner’s interview, this win is not as significant. Having never played at a LAN before, he is eager to test himself against teams from other regions.

“It doesn’t mean much. It just means that we are the best team in EU right now but until we prove ourselves at an international LAN or something, you know, where the teams from the whole earth play. You know, I was never on a LAN in my life actually. I never played against teams from other regions. I am playing against EU teams only for two years already. Kinda boring,” BOOM said.

BOOM contributed significantly to Gladiators’ victories in the third and fourth games with his impressive play on Storm Spirit with support from Io. He dominated both games by scoring 30 kills in total and set the stage for the Gladiators to win.

On the other hand, dyrachyo’s thoughts on becoming the WEU’s best team were summed up in one concise sentence: “I am happy that we win. That’s all.” In the same vein as many young Russian players, he is just enthusiastic about playing Dota 2 as much as possible. And when asked about how they would celebrate this win, he simply replied, “just playing some pubs.” BOOM laughed at his safelaner’s celebration and made it clear that he would not be playing any pubs in the next week and would hang out with his friends.

It is just commendable that Gladiators was able to go so far in the DPC Tour 1; it was a team that was just formed before the season began, and to put forth performances such as these for three to four months is simply remarkable. After finishing second in the league as Team Tickles, it got buffed by signing with Gaimin Gladiators and then finished first in the Regional Finals. In addition to the players who played well, a great deal of credit must go to the team’s coach Daniel “ImmortalFaith” Moza who has been the man behind the team’s intelligent strategies and drafts.

Gladiators, crowned champions of the DPC 2021-22 Regional Finals, takes home a massive $50,000 USD as prize money and 250 DPC points.
