Cogen Sword of Rewind Developer Gemdrops Teases More Games
Cogen Sword of Rewind is finally out, a bit more than a year after its first announcement, and it looks like developer Gemdrops is already working on something else.
Cogen Sword of Rewind was first announced back on June 6, 2020, at Indie Live Expo. Initially planned for a 2020 release on PC, PS4 and Switch, Cogen Sword of Rewind was delayed all the way to 2022. The game was finally released this January 27, 2022.
Cogen is a stylish action game, with protagonist Kohaku being able to slightly turn back time by using her sword. Thanks to a mechanic titled the Ouroboros System. You can turn back time to avoid hits and fight the enemies. It’s very inspired by the games of Inti Creates: Megaman Zero and Azure Striker Gunvolt. In particular, it’s really cool how Kohaku can slash projectiles and bullets back to her enemies.
Moreover, Cogen loos like an hardcore game, with high level execution required to clear it. Or at least to clear it with style. The game seemingly has high replay value, and it’ll be interesting to see players’ reactions as more and more people pick it up.
