Original story below..

It appears the Chinese branch of Crytek have jumped the gun and announced that Crysis 4 is on the way. An image, which you can see below, was posted on BiliBili with message “The ‘Crysis 4’ project is confirmed, opening a new nano battlefield! Follow @Crytek_Official, we will continue to update you with the latest news.”

Crysis 4

There has been no mention of Crysis 4 by Crytek in the West, although the recent remasters of the Crysis trilogy certainly hinted that the series may not be dead. In fact, last year footage of “Crysis Battleground” leaked out and that was described as ‘the next Crysis game’.

Reportedly sourced from last year’s Crytek hack back in November 2020, the way this Crysis Battleground (also referred to as Crysis Next) gameplay footage was done in the same garish style as this memorable Halo 4 leak from 2012, using off-screen recorded

Unfortunately the footage has now been deleted but we were able to pick out a number of details, including the ability for players to switch between third and first person view as they navigate a large map, gathering resources and weapons from crates in an attempt to outwit and outlive their opponents. In one scene, we saw the player deploy a drone that carries them through the air, dropping them at another location.

A leaked description of Crysis Next describes the unannounced game as follows:

A free to play battle-royale game where 100s of players collide in fast paced combat. Visual customization, adaptive nanosuit powers, and visually spectacular combat in an immersive world creates the ultimate live streaming experience. The Crysis franchise has all the features to make a battle royale stand out. The gameplay. The style and setting. High production value.

Today’s announcement does seem to suggest the next game is a sequel in the main franchise rather than spin off battel royale, but the post from Cryek China does mention the word ‘battlefield’. Expect something official soon!
