CS:GO has started witnessing significant positive growth for the first time in months. In January 2022, the game registered a huge player gain percentage of 10.20%, its highest in the last 14 months.

With an influx of 55,762 unique players in the first month of the year, CS:GO has finally managed to breach the 50,000 player gain milestone for the first time since November 2020, according to information available on Steam Charts.

This spike in player gain is most likely due to the Lunar New Year celebrations, which is also known as the Chinese New Year. As the festival is particularly celebrated in countries from East Asia and Southeast Asia, schools, colleges, and offices based in these regions tend to usually offer a week-long holiday.

It remains to be seen if this growth can be sustained for the remainder of the year, or does it slump back down until the PGL Major Antwerp 2022 which is scheduled to take place in May later this year.

CS:GO kicks off 2022 on a high note with a player gain of 10.20%

2022 has started off brilliantly for CS:GO as has been the case in the past except for Janury 2016 when the game had reported a negative player gain of -3.20% (-12,0756 players). This time the Valve shooter has reported a gain of 55,762 unique players, resulting in a solid 10.20 % jump.

Also, the average number of users has also shot up significantly to stand at 602,376.3 average players, while the highest peak was recorded at 991,625 concurrent players. Both these metrics represent growth, the number of average players being the highest in the last eight months, while this is the maximum player peak registered since May 2021.

This positive sign comes at a dire time when CS:GO really needed to come out of its slump. It had already witnessed a drop from February 2021 to July 2021, followed by months of small incremental growth until January 2022 which has stabilized the numbers to a certain degree.

Hopefully these figures are maintained for the next couple of months at least, leading up to the first CS:GO Major tournament of the year all set to take place in Antwerp, Belgium through the month of May.
