Dead By Daylight has received a new update today, and while there are a number of exciting things that have been added to the game, there is something that has got the community divided.

One of the highlights of the recent update is that the Stretched Resolution feature has been fixed, which means players will not be able to use it to get an advantage while playing the game. If you are an avid gamer, you might be aware that there are different resolutions you can choose while playing games with the standard 1920×1080 falling under 16:9 resolution. Now certain games like CS: GO are preferred to be played on the stretched resolution by players are the character models are wider, thereby making it much easier to spot and shoot enemies. In Dead by Daylight, there is no such thing like that, but players still get an advantage.

This is well detailed by former user Hippie in a post detailing the differences between the two modes. What basically happens is that when you are playing the game in stretched mode, you will be able to see things that you don’t normally see in the regular mode. A wider field of view accounts for more information being displayed on the screen, giving you an instant advantage while playing as Survivor. While playing as a Killer you don’t get any advantage as such.
After the update, players will not be able to exploit the stretched resolution like before. This didn’t go down well with many fans, and there is a massive debate going on in the community. One user highlights that there have been streamers in the past who left the Fog Whisperers program just because they can’t use stretched resolution.
