Dying Light 2 Stay Human Amasses Nearly 180,000 (and Counting) Steam Players, 4x of Dying Light 1’s All-Time Peak
It’s fair to say that people have been more than a little excited for the launch of Dying Light 2 Stay Human, and though Techland’s open world post-apocalyptic action RPG certainly saw plenty of delays and troubles during its turbulent development cycle, the wait for it is finally over. Unsurprisingly, it seems the hype surrounding the game has propelled it to what’s looking like a very impressive launch.
At the time of writing, Dying Light 2 has nearly 180,000 players on Steam, and that number is climbing steadily and rapidly. Currently, it has the fifth highest concurrent player count on Steam, ahead of the likes of Grand Theft Auto 5, Team Fortress 2, and Rainbow Six Siege.
Here’s another number to give you some context for how successful that launch is for Techland’s newest release- the original Dying Light’s all-time peak concurrent player count since its launch in 2017 currently stands at over 45,000 players (via SteamDB), which means its sequel has amassed four times as many players (and counting) within hours of release.
Dying Light 2 Stay Human is out now for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch cloud-exclusive launch scheduled for later this year. The game will be receiving a hefty patch on consoles soon- read more on that through here.
In our review of Dying Light 2, we awarded it a score of 7/10, saying, “Dying Light 2 Stay Human is often let down by clumsy writing, unbalanced progression, clunky combat, and technical issues, but its excellent parkour, engaging choice and consequence mechanics, and the expertly realized threat of the Infected make for a fun open world free-running romp nonetheless.” You can read our full review through here.
