Evil Dead: The Game delay announcement

In the same thread, the developers continue on their point that the delayed launch allows them to release a more polished experience.

This delay gives our team the time they need to get things just right, so your boomstick will be polished, fully loaded, and ready to blast Deadites on that Friday the 13th of May. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Although the news is disappointing to Evil Dead fans, the developers fortunately provided a window for when to expect the next big announcement. They explain that they will reveal pre-order information for the game sometime in February. In addition, they will also showcase a brand new trailer that month as well.

About Evil Dead: The Game

The developers first announced Evil Dead: The Game during The Game Awards 2020. The asymmetrical multiplayer title allows players to take control of popular characters from the cult-classic horror franchise. Players can either choose to play as Ash and his allies or the evil Kandarian Demon in this PVP experience.

While the gameplay takes heavy cues from similar titles like Dead by Daylight, it also differentiates itself with its own identity. One notable difference is the inclusion of AI-controlled Deadites that work alongside the player-controlled Kandarian Demon. In addition, players can fight back against the undead army with their iconic weapons from the movies.

The original cast from the movies and TV series, including Bruce Campbell, will also return to reprise their roles as the game’s voice actors. And while the game focuses on PVP multiplayer, Evil Dead: The Game will also include several single-player side missions.

The most recent delay to May isn’t the first for Evil Dead: The Game. Originally, Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games eyed a 2021 release. However, they ultimately pushed the window back until 2022.

Now, Evil Dead: The Game launches May 13 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. As we await the new trailer this February, you can watch the most recent trailer below.
