The Steam Deck is launching later this month, and with Valve currently in the long process of optimizing the Steam library for the upcoming handheld device, we’re beginning to learn more about which games will and won’t be supported on it when it launches. One game that definitely won’t be supporting the Steam Deck for the foreseeable future is one of the biggest games out there. Epic Games’ CEO Tim Sweeney recently took to Twitter and confirmed that with Easy Anti-Cheat not supported on the Steam Deck, Fortnite, which uses the anti-cheat system, won’t feature support for the device, before adding that Epic isn’t confident it will be “able to combat cheating at scale under a wide array of kernel configurations including custom ones.” Of course, should Easy Anti-Cheat become compatible with the Steam Deck in the future, that may very well change. The Steam Deck can, after all, be used to access third party storefronts like the Epic Games Store as well, so there would certainly be an audience for something as massive as Fortnite on the device.
