A new Gran Turismo 7 trailer gives racers a taste of what the PS5 version has to offer ahead of its March release date. The thirty-second clip doesn’t have much depth, nor does it dive into some of GT7’s new and improved racing features. Instead it gives us a quick tour of several PS5 exclusive features.

Adaptive triggers and the DualSense controller’s enhanced haptic feedback will give Gran Turismo 7 some immersive texture when out on the track. You can dial this up by plugging into the console’s 3D audio, the PS5 version also boasting rapid loading times with 60fps gameplay in 4K with HDR.

It was recently revealed that you’ll need close to 100GB in order to install the game to your console. But when can you play Gran Turismo 7 on PS5? Those who preorder the long-awaited PlayStation exclusive will be able to download the game from February 25, 2022. However, it won’t activate until a couple of weeks later on March 4, 2022.

This date will herald the return of racing royalty, promising to be the richest Gran Turismo experience to date. It’s been the best part of decade since the last numbered game in the series, with GT Sport having taken an interesting detour to emphasise multiplayer and encouraging good sportsmanship out on the track.

Gran Turismo 7 will steer fans back to what they’re most familiar with: an extensive single player campaign (which was only added after launch to GT Sport), the most lifelike visuals yet on PS5, and a huge lineup of cars to race in. Famed developer Polyphony Digital appears to be cherry picking the best bits from its flagship franchise. Although the wait has been long, there is hope GT7 will be a redefining hit when it launches in March.

Gran Turismo 7 is coming out for PS5 and PS4 on 4th March 2022, in what was a surprise cross-generational release considering the manner of the game’s original announcement. The PS4 version obviously doesn’t support ray tracing or the DualSense controller, but it will be fascinating to see how close the experience comes in terms of graphics on the PS4 Pro, and when racing using a racing wheel peripheral. If you want to upgrade from PS4 to PS5, you’ll be able to pay the $10 difference to do so.
