HOW TO UNLOCK MOVE STYLES

First, in order to even use Agile Style or Strong Style, you’ll need to unlock the ability to use Move Styles. You can unlock Move Styles by having your Pokémon “master” the specific move you want to use.

“Mastering” moves simply require repeated use of a move, which Pokémon will naturally do as you progress and battle through the game. A good focused training session will certainly help out if you’re trying to quickly level up and “master” a particular move! Keep in mind though that you’ll need to “master” every move you want to use in the Agile or Strong Style.

Once you unlock the ability to use Agile Style or Strong Style, you’ll be able to see the options in the move screen. Clicking the L or R buttons while on the selected move will cycle through the different available Move Styles. You choose Strong or Agile, and you’ll be on your way to expertly using them in battle!

Just keep in mind that Move Styles will require more PP than a Standard move will, so it’s important to manage your resource during battle.

STRONG STYLE OR AGILE STYLE?

So, what do these Move Styles actually do? Well, Agile Style and Strong Style provide certain buffs to Pokémon’s moves, helping you gain an advantage in battles. Each style will boost your Pokémon in different ways, which is why it’s important to strategize how you use them.

In order to choose which style to use, take a second to think about how you prefer to do Pokémon battles.

Pokemon AgileStyle2

Like to get the upper hand by using speed and attacking first? Then Agile Style is the option for you!

Agile Style will raise your Pokémon’s action speed, meaning it can attack more often during battles. You can even make two attacks during a single turn, giving you and your team a turn advantage. It’s a powerful way to make use of a Pokémon’s speed stat, as it can help you quickly end battles potentially before your enemy has a chance to move.

However, the biggest drawback to Agile Style is decreased attack power. While you can attack more quickly, those attacks will be less powerful. They might make your move less effective against your enemy, so make sure to plan out how you use Agile Style.

Use Strong Style

Prefer to hit hard in big bursts of damage? Then you’ll want to use Strong Style!

Strong Style will boost the power of the move, making it a stronger attack than it normally would be. This will increase your attack’s damage, leading to more effective attacks!

In this case though, you’ll be sacrificing speed. This means that your Pokémon’s action speed will be lower, leading to fewer actions taken during battle. So beware – if your enemy withstands your Strong Style move, it’ll most likely attack several times in a row in retaliation.

And there you have it! Now you can mix and match Agile and Strong Style moves to best your enemies. While you’ll have to choose between the styles for particular moves, using both of them in battle will get you your greatest chance of success.

Pokémon: Legends Arceus is available to play on Switch starting January 28th, 2022.
