Hyper Scape, Ubisoft’s foray into battle royale genre, is exiting the arena as the publisher has confirmed it will be closing down the game on April 28th. That means Hyper Scape will not even see its second anniversary. The game was launched in July 2020 but since then has not made much of a splash in a market where games such as Apex Legends, Fortnite, and PUBG still reign at the top. It seems the cost of keeping the servers up is not worth it to keep going for its small population of players.

Contenders,

We have made the difficult decision to end development of Hyper Scape and shut the game down as of April 28th. We set out to create a vertical, close-quarters, and fast-paced shooter experience and we are extremely grateful to our community for joining us on our journey. We will be taking key learnings from this game into future products.

To the Hyper Scape community, thank you for your passion and dedication to the world of Neo Arcadia both inside and outside of the game. Your devotion to the game we built will always be cherished.

Reach out to us if you have questions.

Sincerely, Hyper Scape

Ubisoft has not really released any major updates for Hyper Scape. The last big event was the launch of season three back in March 2021, with patch notes 3.1 being released in April 2021. Since then there have been effectively radio silence with Hyper Scape’s Twitter account not being active since June 2021. That is until today when it posted the statement about the shut down. So, players can battle it out in the futuristic battle royale for a few more months.
