Marvel fans are adamant about seeing the revival of Netflix’s Daredevil series, with Charlie Cox returning to reprise The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.

Marvel has announced a new series for Daredevil, however, it’s not the medium that fans think it is and we’re here to clear up any confusion.

Netflix’s Daredevil series debuted on the streaming platform in 2015 and ran for three seasons until it was canceled in 2018. The show also spawned the spin-off series, The Punisher, with Jon Bernthal taking on the role of Frank Castle.

Is Daredevil Getting a New Show?

No, not yet. There has been no official announcement from Marvel or Netflix about a revival or the establishment of a reboot so far.

Fans are likely getting confused after it was announced by Marvel Comics that a new comic book series was being released this summer.

Many publications have phrased the headline to sound as if Marvel had announced a new television series for Daredevil, but this is sadly not the case.

Fans will have to wait patiently to see what Marvel’s next move is regarding Daredevil’s live-action appearance, but it has at least been confirmed that Charlie Cox will be returning if another show or film is made.

Charlie Cox recently appeared in a cameo role for Spider-Man: No Way Home, reprising his role as Matt Murdock.

The inclusion of Cox’s Daredevil in Peter Parker’s coming-of-age narrative means that the character is now canon within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin was also recently welcomed into the MCU by way of the Hawkeye series on Disney Plus.

With both characters having entered Phase 4, fans can now expect the adversaries to cross paths once again.

Cox’s vigilante and D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk first met on the small screen during season 1 of Netflix’s series and a confirmed spin-off show starring Maya Lopez’s, Echo, could be an opportunity for the characters to share screen time again.

What’s the New Comic Book Series About?

The new comic book series in question is a Daredevil relaunch helmed by writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Marco Checchetto.

Daredevil #1 is set to release in June 2022 and will pick up the vigilante’s narrative during the fallout of the Devil’s Reign event. Matt and Elektra will be left to pick up the pieces after the devastating occurrence and question the cost of working under the Daredevil mantle. This relaunched series is said to “change the fabric of Daredevil’s mythos” and deliver “the darkest Hell’s Kitchen to date.”

Comicbook.com reported on a press release given by Marvel, where writer, Zdarsky, spoke about this new Daredevil chapter:

“Getting to write Daredevil and work with Marco is a career highlight. I’m just genuinely excited that we get to continue our epic story with this new issue one! Matt and Elektra have confronted their past mistakes with Devil’s Reign and Woman Without Fear, but can they atone for them together?”
