Krafton in a surprise move has changed the name of its latest mobile battle royale, PUBG: New State. The game which was released in November last year has undergone changes in the last few days, which includes the game being rebranded to New State Mobile. This change can be noticed across both New State’s official website and its social media accounts.

New State undergoing a name change has also been confirmed by a Krafton spokesperson to Dot Esports. In a statement to the website, the representative said that, “New State has always been a mobile focused experience, so we are leaning into that. While players can still get the intense and competitive gameplay of ‘PUBG’, this version is really tailormade to be the ultimate mobile experience”.

Krafton changes PUBG: New State’s name to New State Mobile

Krafton has decided to drop the trademark and iconic ‘PUBG’ from its latest mobile battle royale, changing its name to New State Mobile. A Krafton representative further mentioned that this version of the game is truly tailormade for an “ultimate mobile experience”.

More changes coming to the game were also hinted, as information regarding this will be made available later this year. However, players can slowly start to see the game change starting with the newly introduced Battle Royale: Extreme Mode.

Initially when the logo and name of the game had changed, the mobile gaming community had started speculating that the addition of ‘Mobile’ could be indicative of a PC version being in the works.

However, the rumors have been laid to rest as this is not the case. The Krafton spokesperson has clearly stated,

At the time of writing this article, the name swap and the new logo have only been changed on New State Mobile’s social media platforms and official website. However, these changes are yet to be reflected in-game and on the application download stores for Apple and Android devices.
