Lost Ark Engraving Guide

Engravings are a very important element for PvE in Lost Ark . Etchings are passive effects that enhance certain aspects of your character. Our guide tells you everything you need to know about engravings in Lost Ark.

What are engravings?

Engravings are special buffs you can bestow on your character. In your character profile you can see the currently active engravings:

We distinguish between:

1. Combat Engravings
   Combat Engravings are available to all classes equally. Sources are accessories, engraving recipes, and the Skill Stone.
2. Class Etches
   Each class in Lost Ark has two individual class etches that the other classes don’t have access to. Sources for this are accessories and engraving recipes.
3. Negative Effects
   Negative effects negatively affect your character. They appear on accessories and skill stones.

Each engrave effect allows you to reach a maximum of 15 veins (anything above that is ignored). Every 5 cores increase the effect that the engraving gives you:

• 00 – 04 veins: No bonus effect
• 05 – 09 veins: Weak bonus effect
• 10-14 veins: Normal bonus effect
• 15 veins: Strong bonus effect

Sources of gravure veins

In the character window (P), where you also put your items on and off, you will find a tab for engravings. This lists the number of veins that the character reaches in each individual engraving.

The total number of cores comes from different sources:

• Rings, earrings and necklace
  accessories give veins on two positive and one negative engraving. As with the stats granted by accessories, engravings are also randomized when dropped. Your goal is to find accessories that provide the right stats as well as the right engravings for your build.
• Engraving Instructions
  The character can learn Engraving Instructions and have up to two of all the learned Engravings active at a time. This grants as many gravure veins to the equipped gravure as the character has learned so far. More on that in a moment.
• Skill
  Stone The Skill Stone is another equippable item that provides you with gravure veins.

How do engraving guides work?

You have an in-game “engraving bonus list” that your entire roster (i.e. all characters on the same server) has access to. You can open them with Alt+i.

Each Engraving in this Engraving Bonus List can have a maximum of 12 veins and each character can have a maximum of 2 Engravings from the Engraving Bonus List active at a time.

You can learn about engraving from the respective engraving instructions. Example: If you learn “Engraving Instructions: Mana Regeneration” you will get veins credited to the engraving “Mana Regeneration”. You have to follow this order:

1. 20 green engraving instructions => +3 wires for engraving.
2. 20 blue (rare) engraving instructions => +6 veins for engraving.
3. 20 purple (epic) engraving instructions => +9 veins for engraving.
4. 20 legendary (orange) engraving instructions => +12 veins for engraving.

In your equipment menu – i.e. where you equip armor and weapons – you will find two slots for engravings at the bottom left.

You can select up to two engravings from your engraving bonus list and drag them into these slots. This adds the number of cores learned to any existing cores from other sources.

4. How do I get engraving instructions?

You can learn about engraving from the associated engraving instructions. You can get engraving instructions from many different sources:

• They drop in your first two runs in Chaos Dungeons per day.
• If you do more runs per day, you will receive the currency Perception Fragments and Crystals of Disorder . You can use this currency to buy recipes from the Chaosdungeons merchant.
• You can also purchase engraving instructions from the auction house.
• Other PvE activities, such as Guardian Raids or Towers, also provide guides as rewards.

5. What is the Skill Stone?

The Skill Stone is an equippable item with special meaning. It grants significantly more gravure veins than your jewelry, and its effectiveness comes with a mini-game and a healthy dose of luck.

6. What are negative effects?

There are also negative engravings, where veins accumulate, for example, due to the ability stone or jewelry. Negative effects also follow the above thresholds. That is, as long as your character has less than 5 veins in a negative engraving, it has no effect.
