Lost Ark Min/Max Guide: Farm Tier 3 Gear Quickly

lost-ark-min/max-guide:-farm-tier-3-gear-quickly

The average item level in Lost Ark is a prerequisite for accessing higher content. Higher content provides better loot. The advantage of increasing the item level as quickly as possible is that you can complete daily and weekly activities earlier in higher tiers.

In this guide, you will find the optimal strategy to quickly boost a fresh level 50 character to Tier 3.

Should I min/max?

If you enjoy playing as efficiently and quickly as possible, then by all means.

If you want to enjoy the story – which Lost Ark definitely deserves – you’ll still end up in the endgame and be able to keep up with everyone. So don’t let min/maxes rush you.

If you’re somewhere in between, check out our guides and pick what you’ll enjoy the most. It’s always helpful to know what the options are, and in most cases, the middle ground is the healthiest path.

First Steps & Preparations

In order to prepare for your adventure, no matter how “hardcore” you want to start, you have to take these steps:

  • The first step is to choose a Lost Ark class to start with. Take a class you like. But in general, mobile DPS classes are a tad faster when leveling (although it doesn’t ultimately take a lot of time since the entire leveling only takes between 10 and 13 hours anyway).
  • After that, you’ll engage with our Lost Ark Quick Leveling Guide. Inside you’ll find cross-character leveling tips and class-specific leveling builds.
  • Our Lost Ark guide for fresh 50s gives you a quick overview of what’s in store for you at 50. Have a look here – the more you know about the basics, the easier it will be later.

Up to level 50, everything is the same for all players. There are no different methods here. However, things get interesting at level 50, as you will see below.

What is the min/max to 50 all about?

Aside from getting to level 50 as quickly as possible, the primary goal of min/max is to increase your character’s item level as quickly as possible.

The PvE content available in Lost Ark is linked to your item level. The faster you get these up, the sooner you unlock new content.

The new content, in turn, offers more valuable rewards. Your goal is therefore to get to Tier 3 as quickly as possible. This makes, for example, earning gold in Lost Ark much more effective – and gold later becomes an enormously important currency.

Optimize gear progression from T1 to T3

In principle, the gear progression in Lost Ark is very simple and primarily revolves around this:

  • The loot in Chaos Dungeons and Guardian Raids is limited to twice a day, Abyss Dungeons even to once a week.
  • The higher your character’s item level, the better loot there is.
  • => The more you can push your item level before going into the limited instances, the better.

There is a simple trick…

Now in Lost Ark, there are many islands that you can travel to. There is usually a more or less large quest line waiting on the islands. Some of these quest lines give a lot of upgrade materials.

If you make enough of these islands, the materials will pile up in your inventory and you can boost your item level very high in a relatively short time. This allows you to skip several levels in chaos dungeons and guardian raids and get the more valuable items faster.

So if you want to maximize your gear progression, try to make as many islands as possible BEFORE you devote yourself to your Chaos Dungeon and Guardian Raid for the current day.

The Quiet Bonus Trick

If you now play a lot, it will be interesting to accumulate the rest bonus and push it directly into Tier 2 or even higher through main quests and quests on islands. While the rest bonus only gives 50% of the loot you would have received for a daily run, the dropped items from Tier2 are far more valuable than anything from Tier 1.

Expressed mathematically: 50% T2 loot > 100% T1 loot .

That means:

  • If you play enough to get to at least T2 in 5 days, you don’t do Chaos Dungeons and Guardian Raids and collect the rest bonus.
  • If you wouldn’t get to T2 within the 5 days, at the end of each game session you do the highest Chaos Dungeons and Guardian Raids possible.

The time required is difficult to estimate in advance, as it depends on several factors: leveling experience, experience with the class, queues on the servers, etc.

But as a rough guide I would say that if you play less than 5 hours a day on Progress (first 5 days) you shouldn’t cancel your rest bonus, just do your dailies every day. The difference will hardly be noticeable in a few weeks anyway.

What might work is a mix. If you are close to T2 and you can estimate that you only need 2 more days, then you can cancel the rest bonus from there. Thus, you minimize the risk and can still use part of the rest bonus strategy to your advantage.
