Misha Lists OG’s Toughest Opponents Outside of Western Europe

The revamped OG Dota 2 team overcame initial concerns of its roster being young and inexperienced and became one of the best in Western Europe (WEU). OG surpassed teams like Team Secret and Nigma Galaxy by finishing in fourth place and earning itself a spot at the first Major of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) season. Though the Major could not be held, OG’s captain Mikhail “Misha” Agatov pointed out some of the team’s toughest competitors should it compete in an international event like the Major. Misha named some teams from various regions as strong contenders, but he referred to The International 10 (TI10) finalists – Team Spirit and PSG.LGD – as the strongest international competitors.

OG Misha names some of its strongest opponents in the world

So far, things are looking good for OG’s Dota 2 roster, which has done well in its region that boasts some of the best players and teams in Dota 2. There is no major, so it’s difficult to tell how the roster would fare against teams from other regions, but Misha recently provided some insight into the team’s potentially formidable international opponents in an OG Discord Q&A.

His high regard for Eastern European teams led him to mention that all of the teams in the region were strong. Additionally, BOOM Esports, T1 from Southeast Asia, and some Chinese squads were also there that he deemed scary. Misha particularly spoke highly of PSG.LGD.

“I think all CIS teams are strong. BOOM, T1 are scary. A lot of the Chinese teams are scary. I am watching LGD every day and sometimes they have highs and lows but most of the time, they are playing at the highest level. Sometimes, they’ll lose seriously they are very strong and at LAN, they will be 10 times stronger. I think there are a lot of dangerous opponents out there and the toughest one, I guess, it’s first Team Spirit, then LGD.”

Although Misha and OG are unlikely to face most of these teams anytime soon, they will strive to continue to prove themselves and up the ante when they compete at the Regional Finals which will replace the canceled Major.

Despite Misha’s opinion that all of its three opponents in the Regional Finals are strong, he is looking forward to going up against Tundra Esports. “I think they are all very strong teams. I don’t know how I will rank all of them but I definitely look forward to seeing what we can do to Tundra,” he said.

OG had lost all three games that it played against Tundra Esports in Tour 1 of the DPC 2021-22, but they learned a lot from them. Misha is hopeful that they can turn the tide in their favor if they face them in the Regional Finals.

“We tried to improve our game a lot from every game we played against them and I think they taught us a lot and it helped us to beat Secret and Nigma afterward and I think we have become much stronger after that. We have some ideas on how to do that and yeah, I really just want to see how we can fight this team.”

OG will begin its campaign in the Regional Finals against Team Liquid on 11th Feb 2022.
