New PS5 And PS4 Beta Software Updates Releasing Tomorrow

It’s been a while since we’ve had a software update for the PS5 or PS4 that brought a bunch of changes, and it looks like that wait is over.

Starting tomorrow, beta software updates for both PlayStation consoles will be rolling out in the US and the UK.

The software update is meant to focus on introducing new features for party chat and UI features on PS5, and on PS4 players will be able to check out the new Open Parties feature.

A new post on the PlayStation Blog went through all the new features, like Open Parties.

Parties are now either open or closed when you start them, with Open Parties allowing your friends to both see and join the party, without having been invited.

Closed parties are just that, invites only.

You’ll also be able to individually adjust voice chat levels for players within parties on PS4.

There have also been more improvements to Game Base on PS5, so that you can easily cycle through viewing your friends lists, parties, and messages.

On PS5, you can now filter your games by their genre, and even select games to stay on your home screen, if you know you never want to be without them.

Players on PS5 will also be able to test out a new voice command feature, although you’ll need to ensure that you select to participate in the test within your system settings.
