New Tales: Former European Heads of Activison Blizzard Launch New Publishing House
The state of Activision Blizzard has been a topic of discussion for months, culminating in Xbox buying out the studio as well as its subsidiaries. Now across the sea, former heads of Activision Blizzard’s European division have teamed up to make their own publishing house.
As per Video Games Chronicle, New Tales is a new publisher helmed by Blizzard’s former VP of International Cedric Marechal. The studio promises to make its own original IPs with the studios under its banner as well as publishing services for other game developers via “fair partnerships.”
Marechal writes in a statement:
“We have formed a team of passionate gamers with an unrivalled degree of experience, having grown some of the biggest IPs and player communities…
“Gaming has rarely seen such an exciting time, fuelled by tons of innovation and creativity. However, the frequency of new releases keeps rising rapidly, reinforcing the need for great international publishing. New Tales is a one-stop-shop publishing solution where we’re going to work with developers, as one united team, dedicated to maximizing success.”
Besides Marechal, New Tales also has multiple other Blizzard veterans like Benoit Dufour (former VP of international business operations), Emmanuel Obert (former EMEA director), and Delphine Le Corre (former senior director EMEA).
The team also has several advisors , all having experience in the industry; Blue Silver Studios co-founders Kim and Ray Gresko, as well as ex-Overwatch production director and Seven Studios senior producer Julia Humphreys.
With such seasoned vets behind the brand, hopefully New Tales will deliver some great titles in the near future.
