Nintendo Switch Sports REVEALED: Everything we know so far
Nintendo has revealed the long-awaited sequel to Wii Sports, Nintendo Switch Sports.
Similar to its progenitor, Nintendo Switch Sports will take sports into the video game realm, giving fans, friends of fans, and families of fans an enjoyable experience for everyone.
Here’s what we know about the game so far.
Release Date
Nintendo Switch Sports releases on April 29th, 2022.
Nintendo will also hold an online playtest from February 18th through February 20th which will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online members.
What Sports are there in Nintendo Switch Sports?
Nintendo Switch Sports will feature a number of new sports such as Volleyball, Badminton, and more while also keeping some of the classics in play.
Additionally, Nintendo announced two free updates coming post-release that will introduce Soccer first and then adding the fan-favorite from the Wii, Golf.
It’s worth noting that Nintendo Switch Sports may not include another fan-favorite, Boxing, though this could also come in a future DLC down the line like Golf and Soccer.
Other Possible Sports for Nintendo Switch Sports
Similar to how Golf and Soccer are joining Nintendo Switch Sports via DLC, it’s possible that Nintendo might decide to continue this with other sports as well. Sports like…
Basketball
Basketball would be a fun addition to Nintendo Switch Sports that we’d love to see added in a future DLC. The gameplay could focus more on shot selections and form as opposed to running the court, and could still feature defense in a half-court setup, perhaps in a 3v3 format.
Table Tennis
Similar to Tennis, Table Tennis could be played stationary but on a much smaller scale with the table as the focus, including focusing on the rotation of the ball based on how it’s hit.
Hockey
Although possibly not being able to skate the length of the ice, a hockey minigame could focus on finding holes in the goalie’s defense, with one player playing as the goalie and the other handling the puck.
Archery
Probably one of the easier possible sports to implement with how the current Nintendo Switch controllers work would be Archery. With one controller in one hand and one in the other, players could draw their arrow and shoot at a target.
Will Nintendo Switch Sports feature Multiplayer?
Nintendo Switch Sports will offer local and online multiplayer options! This means players can enjoy a quiet evening with family or friends in person, or take things online to battle it out with others.
