Path of Exile Archnemesis: The Best Starter Builds for PoE 3.17
It’s that time again: Tonight, on February 4th, 2022, the new Archnemesis league starts in Path of Exile – and as always we want to recommend some League Starter Builds. As in the Metamorph League, in Archnemesis you craft your own bosses from found parts.
What is a starter build anyway?
Many experienced PoE players advise starting each new season with a League Starter Build. These builds have the advantage that they are easy to level and work without extremely expensive items. If special unique items are required for a build, they can be obtained relatively cheaply by trading with other players.
With our featured builds, you can reach the endgame more easily, so that you can farm strong items and currency on the maps there. These in turn finance your equipment for twink characters, which can be min-maxed even better.
Path of Building will help you further
Path of Building is a program that allows you to plan your PoE builds down to the smallest detail. In our case, the most important feature is that you can import builds from the linked guides, which are usually shared via pastebin link.
To do this, download Path of Building in the Community Edition , click on “Import/Export Build” in the top left corner, and on “Import from Pastebin” at the bottom of the next screen – then simply copy the link in, confirm, done!
You should now be able to see the skill point distribution in the skill tree. Many builders break the skill tree into tiers so you know where to put your points first when leveling.
Skeleton Mage’s Necromancer
Whether it’s Lost Ark or Diablo 2: Resurrected, we know from our polls that many Nintendosmash readers prefer to play summoner classes in action role-playing games. There are many different builds in PoE, each specializing in summoning specific minions like Zombies or Spectres.
For the new patch 3.17, we recommend the Skeleton Mages Necromancer, with which you can have an army of different skeleton magicians fight for you. The build comes from streamers Zizaran and GhazzyTV, who are considered some of the best Summoner players in the PoE community.
The playstyle of this build is relatively easy to explain: you just have to make sure to keep summoning new skeletons, as they will die after a while. While they then clean the map for you with their spells and absorb hits, you can concentrate on dodging and surviving.

Cold Dot Occultist
Do you prefer a more active playstyle and prefer to cast your own spells instead of just watching your skeletons do it? Then the Cold Dot Occultist from streamer ShakCentral could be something for you. With his build series Class Builds For Everyone, he has earned a reputation in the PoE community for creating particularly beginner-friendly guides.
The Cold Dot Occultist relies – as the name suggests – on cold damage over time. This is triggered with the Winter Burn spell: these small markers attach themselves to your enemies, dealing damage over time to them. As soon as an enemy dies on this marker, another area damage effect is triggered and the Winter Brand automatically attaches itself to the nearest enemy.
This build is suitable for beginners because not only is it very easy to play, but it is also quite safe: the cold damage slows down enemies or freezes them completely. In addition, ShakCentral relies on large amounts of armor and energy shield in combination with the talent Chaos Inoculation – this reduces your life points to 1, but makes you immune to all chaos damage.

Explosive Arrow Ballista Elementalist
Ok, the EA Ballista Elementalist is another kind of summoner – but just too powerful not to mention it.
The main skill of this build is the Explosive Arrow: This skill fires arrows that initially only get stuck in your enemies. Up to 20 arrows can be stuck in your enemies at the same time – once this number is reached, they will explode. The more arrows, the bigger the explosion and stronger its damage. If you don’t manage to stack the maximum number of arrows in your enemy, that’s no problem either – a second after the last hit, all arrows go up.
If you now combine this skill with the Ballista Support Gem, you no longer have to cast it yourself: Instead, you can now summon up to six turrets that riddle your enemies with arrows. This makes it extremely easy to consistently maintain the maximum number of arrow stacks on your enemies. According to build creator Palsteron, the Archnemesis League and the new Siege of the Atlas expansion should be child’s play with this.
