PS Plus Subscriptions Hit 48 Million Worldwide, Reveals Sony
Sony‘s PlayStation Plus subscription count has hit 48 million worldwide as of December 31, 2021, the format holder announced during its latest financial results overnight.
What’s more, the figure is up 0.6 million on the previous subscription milestone announced during the same period last year. The news comes following Sony’s announcement that PS5 has shipped 17.2 million units worldwide.
PS Plus currently offers free PS4 & PS5 games on a monthly basis, with the February 2022 PS Plus free games lineup now available to download.

Sony is heavily rumored to be chiselling away on its own answer to Xbox Game Pass, supposedly codenamed Project Spartacus. This will apparently combine the offerings of PS Plus and PS Now into a multi-tiered package, although nothing has been announced yet.
PS Plus has been going strong now for over a decade, having debuted during the PS3 era.
