Skull & Bones Is Still On Track For Ubisoft’s Next Fiscal Year, Is Now A ‘Multiplayer First’ Game
Ubisoft has re-confirmed that Skull & Bones will be released during the publisher’s next fiscal year beginning April 2022.
Speaking during the company’s latest earnings call, Ubisoft revealed that Skull & Bones is now a “multiplayer first” title following its reboot in 2020.
Frédérick Duguet, Ubisoft’s CFO, commented:
It’s a very promising new IP focussing on multiplayer first, so very consistent with our strategy to bring multiplayer competition and co-op first in a big open world, with a great, attractive fantasy. That’s of course a longer development time that we’ve had on that game, but we’re very happy with the artistic direction and the progress of the game so far.

Skull & Bones was originally announced in 2017 and has seen numerous delays ever since, and while initially including a single-player campaign, the project shifted towards a live service direction featuring a persistant world with quests and characters that would change overtime.
