Skyesports Reveals Its 2022 Esports Roadmap
Tournament organizer Skyesports is looking to return to LAN events and bump up its prize pools for 2022. Skyesports is working with game developers to host first-party events throughout 2022 in an attempt to bolster the esports scene in India.
Skyesports expanded to South Asia last year and will be looking to extend its presence this year with plans for events in more regions. The tournament organizer will focus on VALORANT, BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India), League of Legends, Free Fire, Hearthstone, FIFA, Real Cricket, Supercell titles, and more in 2022.
Skyesports 2022 Esports Event Roadmap Overview
Q1 2022 – BGMI, Valorant, Dota 2 and League of Legends
The Skyesports Grand Slam is taking place in February and March with an open-for-all format. It has a prize pool of $40,000 split evenly between VALORANT and BGMI. Both esports titles have become the cornerstone of Indian esports and Skyesports will be looking to capitalize on the growing interest in the titles. The events will be followed up by League of Legends and Dota 2 getting the spotlight with Skyesports hosting tournaments for both the popular MOBAs.
Q2 2022 – Skyesports’ Flagship Valorant Event Returns
The Skyesports League, which is a city-based premier league, will return this summer. It will feature a player auction and is set to be one of the biggest competitions of the year with a total prize pool of $200,800 (INR 1.5 Crore).
Q3 2022 – Skyesports Championship 4.0
The fan-favorite competition will continue its tradition of providing amateur players the opportunity to compete with the best, with its fourth edition this year. With $134,000 (INR 1 Crore) on the line and several games, it will be a grand event featuring LAN finals for multiple titles. More details about the event will be announced at a later date.
As soon as the Skyesports Championship event ends, fans will get to witness the Real Cricket Championship 2022. The cricket game will have a $67,000 (INR 50,00,000) esports event later this year for aspiring gamers to make it big.
Q4 2022 – The Skyesports Mobile event will close off 2022.
The Skyesports Grand Slam will return in October for its second season of the year and it will be followed up by the Skyesports Mobile event. After a successful first edition in late 2021, the mobile gaming tournament is returning to close off the year with a $134,000 (INR 1 Crore) prize pool. Several mobile games are set to be included this year but the tournament organizer did not announce any titles just yet.
The Skyesports Tri-Series, which was announced last year as a LAN event for VALORANT in Dubai has been delayed temporarily. It will happen later this year as Skyesports finalizes the schedule for the event. Also, Skyesports has something under wraps for the Valorant Champions Tour season, which will be revealed after Stage 1.
