The 25th Detective Conan movie, The Bride of Halloween, just revealed its theme song by Bump of Chicken with a new trailer.
Introducing Bump of Chicken
Bump of Chicken is one of the most iconic groups in Japan, who’s been around for over 20 years now, with an inimitable style. Tales of fans know them most notably for the legendary OP theme song Karma of Tales of the Abyss. The group also did the OP theme of Final Fantasy Type-0, a game which will sadly never get a sequel, and the theme song in 2020 viral Pokemon promotional short anime GOTCHA.
And while everyone in the US on February 13 night EST was getting excited about the Super Bowl and that Doctor Strange trailer, we otaku and anime fans in Japan were enjoying some good old Detective Conan.

Detective Conan 2022 movie reveals Bump of Chicken theme song Chronostasis
On February 14, at 8 AM JST, the Twitter account for Detective Conan movies revealed a new trailer for the 2022 movie, The Bride of Halloween. The trailer heavily showcased Tohru Amuro alias Rei Furuya.
Rei Furuya was named after the legendary seiyuu voicing him and his most iconic character: Rei Furuya is voiced by Tohru Furuya, who also voiced Mobile Suit Gundam’s protagonist Amuro Ray.
Rei Furuya became incredibly popular and single-handedly brought many new fans into Conan after his central role in movie 22, Zero the Enforcer, released in 2018. So it’s not surprising to see him take a central position in movie 25.

Detective Conan gets a new movie every year and has numerous spinoffs
Rei Furuya is the protagonist of the Zero’s Tea Time spinoff manga. The manga, started in 2018, is written and illustrated by Takahiro Arai, while Detective Conan‘s original author Gosho Aoyama acts as supervisor. Zero’s Tea Time is also getting an anime adaptation alongside another spinoff, The Culprit Hanzawa. Both series will be aired by Netflix worldwide.
Personally speaking, I used to regularly watch the Detective Conan movies in the past. I keep in touch with the TV series from time to time too. Movie 25 looks really exciting though and it might be the one thing pulling me back into the show. What did you folks think of the trailer? Tell me your thoughts in the comments below!
Detective Conan movie 25, The Bride of Halloween, will launch on April 15 in Japanese theaters.
