Nintendo’s latest financial results have revealed that the Nintendo Switch has now sold more than 103.54 million units worldwide.

The company hit the milestone thanks to shipping 18.95 million consoles between October and December of last year. It means that the hybrid console is now Nintendo’s most successful home console yet, in terms of sales. Previously, the Nintendo Wii held that honour, managing 101.63 million sales in its own lifetime.

The Switch isn’t quite the king of Nintendo consoles yet though. The Nintendo DS handheld family, including revisions like the DSi, has shifted 154 million units. However, it seems there’s still plenty of time yet. In an earnings call following the financial results reported by Bloomberg, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said “Switch is just in the middle of its lifecycle and the momentum going into this year is good.”

Those Nintendo Switch sales included a strong showing from all three main models. The most recent quarter saw the debut of the Nintendo Switch OLED Model, which has sold 3.9 million units since arriving in October.  In the same period, the Switch Lite sold 3.17 million units, while the standard Switch has sold 11.79 million.

Despite the success, Nintendo has still been forced to lower its sales estimates for the next quarter to March 2022 from 24 million to 23 million. This is, as you’ve probably guessed, due to the ongoing chip shortage problem currently effecting most computer hardware manufacturers.

The immediate future for the Nintendo Switch looks pretty rosy though, given the launch of Pokémon Legends: Arceus last week, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land on the way on March 25.
