Square Enix has announced it’ll be launch card-based RPG Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden later this month.

The surprise sequel is a follow-up to last year’s Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars. Just like that game,  this new entry tells its story entirely through the medium of cards. It’s completely standalone though, so you don’t need to have played the previous game to get what’s going on.

Once more, the creative team behind NieR and Drakengard are responsible for this iteration, including creative director Yoko Taro. The story is set on a chain of islands protected by a group known as the Maidens. As per the blurb “the turn-based adventure will have players follow the protagonist to save the people of the island as they face the threat of destruction. In this touching tale set in a world of melancholic beauty, players will set sail for the high seas, together with Laty, a girl who failed to become a maiden.”

Fans of Taro’s other works will be able to pick up the game in a bundle with some themed DLC. It’ll include additional costume designs, themes for the table and battle board and music options from the NieR series. There’ll also be a Pixel Art Set that changes all illustrations to pixel art, if that’s your thing.

You can check out the trailer for the game below. Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden arrives February 17 for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
