What Does the Original Director of Resident Evil 4 Want in the Remake?
Fans may still be thinking about Resident Evil: Village, but they haven’t forgotten that Capcom is on a steady path to remake a lot of its old-gen RE games. Rumors have been going around that a remake of Resident Evil 4 could be coming soon, and original director Shinji Mikami weighs in.
Talking to VG247, Mikami was asked on what a remake of Resident Evil 4 should be, and he says, “It would be great if Capcom could do a great job and make the story better, and put out a good product.”
Resident Evil 4 had released back in 2005, and followed the story of Leon S. Kennedy as he attempts to rescue the daughter of the US President, Ashley Graham. The mission has Leon placed in a village in Spain where he realizes that the villagers had all been infected by a mind-controlling virus called Las Plagas and they are all being controlled by a cult called Los Illuminados.
The game was a critical hit when it came out, and even got an HD release back in 2014. Seeing that it was one of the more modern RE games today, it might feel kind of redundant to remake it for modern consoles. Then again, these remakes have been making a lot of bank for Capcom, and if some people want to experience the story in an updated fashion, who is Capcom to deny them?
For now, a remake of Resident Evil 4 hasn’t been officially announced, but an HD Edition is available for PC. Mikami’s new game, Ghostwire: Tokyo, comes to PlayStation 5 on March 5.
