In May of last year Darjeeling Productions and Pixmain announced that they would be adapting the beloved children’s hidden object book “Pierre the Maze Detective – The Search for the Stolen Maze Stone” by Hiro Kamigaki and IC4DESIGN into a digital game for PC, Switch, and mobile titled Labyrinth City. The following month the PC version dropped, followed by the Switch version in July, and since those debuts Labyrinth City: Pierre the Maze Detective has gone on to critical acclaim and numerous awards. The time has finally come then for Labyrinth City to make its mobile debut (well, more mobile than the Switch version I guess) with an iOS version planned for release on March 3rd. Here’s a brand new trailer to mark the announcement.

As we’ve seen with games like Hidden Folks or Krispee Street, these “Where’s Waldo/Wally?” style of hidden object games really come to life as a video game, as the static images from books can feature changing elements, animations, and sounds. Labyrinth City will do just that, but it has the added wrinkle of having its 10 gorgeous maps all be more interconnected with each other as the game tells a cohesive story. I absolutely love games like this, much in the same way I loved these kinds of books as a child, so I’m keen to get my hands on Labyrinth City: Pierre the Maze Detective when the iOS version launches on March 3rd. Currently you can pre-order the game on the App Store for a discounted price of $3.99 ahead of release.
