Team Spirit entered the final day of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Eastern European (EEU) 2021-22 Regional Finals in great shape, defeating HellRaisers 2-0 and later Virtus.pro 3-0 to become the tournament champions. While Team Spirit has already claimed the TI title and seemingly continues to be in great form, the captain of the team, Yaroslav “Miposhka” Naidenov, is still unconvinced they are the best team. In the post-match winner’s interview after the grand final, Miposhka noted that none of his teammates feel like they have won everything with the victory at TI10 and they now aim to win a tournament with live spectators.

Miposhka talks about Team Spirit continuing to focus on Dota 2 despite the win at TI10

While discussing how the drive to continue focusing and performing at the highest level remained intact, Miposhka asserted that Team Spirit had only won one event, which coincidentally turned out to be the biggest tournament in Dota 2 – The International. He added that they solely concentrate on Dota 2 and winning every game they participate in.

“I don’t really know but I don’t think that any of my teammates think that they already won everything. We only won one tournament as a team. It just happened that it was The International but I can’t say that we are the best team in the world right now. For example, we didn’t win a tournament with viewers. That’s what we want to do. We are just thinking about Dota that we just want to win every game. We are focusing on that.”

Team Spirit’s previous DPC season peak might have been TI10, but the team has continued to put up great scores even after the event. Since TI10, the team has lost only two series – the first to Tundra Esports in the grand final of the OGA Dota PIT Season 5 and the second to HellRaisers in the first upper bracket round of the Regional Finals. In the interview, Miposhka noted that he expects his team to win as long as it drafts the right heroes.

Going forward, it will be interesting to see if Team Spirit can sustain its success after patch 7.31 goes live on 23rd Feb. Patch 7.31 is expected to bring drastic changes to the game and significantly alter the meta. In terms of his wishes, Miposhka would really like to see buffs applied to Ancient Apparation and Skywrath Mage so that he can start playing them. He also expressed his desire to play position five Void Spirit.

Team Spirit’s first tournament on patch 7.31 will be the Gamers Galaxy: Dota 2 Invitational Series Dubai 2022 which begins on 2nd Feb. The competition, the largest in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), will see Team Spirit face some of the best teams in the world.
